Olive Bane

Trainer in Addiction & Anger Management

Olive commenced her career in the field of counselling, psychology and theory in 1997. She trained as a group facilitator and worked as one for 14 years. Olive qualified as an addiction counsellor in 2002 and commenced her work in a residential treatment centre for 2 years. From 2004 to 2007 Olive worked within the prison system as Team Leader and then moved to work with the HSE as one of the first addiction counsellors hired under the new primary care initiative.

She has achieved Diplomas in varying counselling specialist areas.

Olive was accepted by IAAAC as a trainer, specialising in Bereavement and Addiction and delivered several workshops throughout the country. Thereafter Olive was approved by the HSE as a trainer within the organization. In 2007 Olive received an Advanced Diploma in Supervision and has opened a private practice working with counsellors and key workers to ensure they provide a specialist service to the clients who are under their care.

Olive trained as a trainer for Strengthening Family Programme and delivers training in the West of Ireland on a yearly basis. She designed a 6 week module on Anger Management for Youthreach and returns yearly to the centre to deliver it. Most recently Olive has worked for the Learning Curve Institute as a trainer on Addictions, Anger Management, Keyworking, Care Planning, and Case Management.

She is accredited as a counsellor and supervisor with IAAAC and is also accredited with IACP and ACPC as a counselling professional. Olive has particular training experience in the areas of conflict and anger management in relation to addictions.

Olive has also completed CRAFT training in the past year and accreditation is pending.
