Colin O’Driscoll

Trainer in Addiction & Motivational Interviewing

Colin is one of The Learning Curve Institute’s most senior Addiction Lecturers and lectures on the QQI Level 5 Addiction courses for the Institute. In addition Colin was a lead trainer on the Keyworking, Case Management and Care Planning modules that were delivered on behalf of the HSE as part of the National Addiction Training Programme (NATP) around Ireland with The LCI in 2012.

Colin is a registered Psychologist and accredited Psychotherapist. He is an Associate Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and full member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP).

He has spent his career blending clinical practice with academic investigation; training and implementation, resulting in a significant appetite for evidence-based practice, coordinated care processes and multidisciplinary treatment procedures.

Colin is Course Director of University of Wales (ATI)’s BA (hons) degree in Addiction Counselling and Senior Lecturer on BA (hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, with the status of Associate University Research Fellow. This role of course director involves the continued design of course content, supervision of lecturers, assessment of students’ suitability.

Having lead addiction treatment services in Ireland and the UK over the last 15 years, Colin is experienced in a variety of addictions and therapeutic approaches. He is also involved in regular in-house and public sector trainings relating to national protocols in addiction services, and a variety of treatment approaches. Colin is Clinical lead for HSE Mid West Alcohol and drug service, involving the development of protocols, supervision and clinical governance structures for counselling and outreach services based in Limerick, North Tipperary and Clare.
