Personality Types and Disorders

Personality type is a key determinant in both how therapist and client bond therapeutically and in the nature of the presenting issue itself. This workshop will explore the dynamics of different personality types and how these individuals differences need to be specially engaged with.

Presented by Kevin Fehin, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. Kevin is currently employed in the Adult Mental Health Service with the HSE. Among other qualifications he holds a Masters in Psychoanalytic Studies.

CPD Points: This workshop is eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, An Bord Altranais and members of The Psychological Society of Ireland and The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland can receive learning credits/CPD points for completing this workshop.

Programme Aims

To give learners a more in-depth understanding of Personality Types and Disorders and how to determine them. The personality types covered will include for example, borderline, narcissistic, histrionic, obsessive, avoidant and anti-social.

Programme Content

Delivered by Kevin Fehin, this workshop will explore the developmental dynamics that give rise to each personality and the kinds of unconscious / conscious processes to sustain them. The workshop will focus on just what constitutes a personality problem in the first place and what distinguishes this from more normative self-identities.

To equip the learner with the tools to enable them to develop, build and expand their existing knowledge in relation to Personality Types and Disorders.
