Jacinta Daly

Lecturer in Addiction Studies

Jacinta has worked in the addiction field for over 11 years. She has extensive knowledge and experience in working with active and recovering drug users within the community. She has worked from a variety of models ranging from 12 step total abstinence to low threshold harm reduction.

Jacinta holds a Diploma in Drugs Intervention and Counselling Skills from Dublin City University and Merchants Quay Ireland, a Certificate in Facilitation Skills from Meitheal and is currently completing a Certificate in Jungian Perspectives with the Jungian Institute, Ireland.

Jacinta qualified as an addiction counsellor in 2009. She developed and co-ordinated the Personal Development Programme for the Marist Rehabilitation Treatment Centre and was one of the first facilitators to work with the Merchants Quay Ireland pilot pre- entry group for High Park Treatment Centre. She has delivered training on a range of topics for over 9 years.

She has worked for the following organisations: Dr Steven’s Centre for the Unemployed, Marist Rehabilitation Treatment Centre, Merchants Quay Ireland Open Access Service (Dublin), Midlands Simon Community, National Learning Network, Merchants Quay Ireland Midlands Project, and is currently working as Community Alcohol and Drug Counsellor with the HSE.
