Now in its third year after completely selling out in 2009 and 2010, this intensive revision programme gives Leaving Certificate students who are studying French the opportunity to maximise their grades in a small class of just 12 students. It is aimed at Leaving Cert French students who wish to revise all aspects of the French Leaving Certificate programme with a specific emphasis on preparation for the oral, written and aural examination. The small class size gives students the opportunity to really progress in both the written and oral aspects of the curriculum.
Programme Duration
The Learning Curve Institute offers intensive Leaving Cert French revision courses during the Halloween Break every year.
Leaving Cert Revision Course October 2011:
- 3 hours per day for 5 days
- Halloween break 2011
- October 31st - November 4th
- 9am-12pm
- €180
In order to maximise learning groups are strictly limited to 12 students.
The course takes place in the Grove Education Centre, Westport, Co. Mayo with further courses due to be announced for The Sligo Education Centre, Sligo.

Certificate in French Language for the Leaving Certificate from The Learning Curve Institute
Programme Aims
To revise all aspects of the Leaving Cert French curriculum and to prepare students for the oral, written and aural examinations. To give students the expressions, tools, vocabulary and notes needed to excel in the Leaving Certificate French exam.
Programme Content
Students will receive handouts, worksheets and notes to broaden their understanding of the French Language specifically for the purposes of the Leaving Cert French oral and written exam. In each 3 hour session 50% of the class time will be allocated to oral work and preparation for the oral exam. The other 50% will be allocated to exam technique, key expressions, grammar, texts, written productions and listening.
Students will work on various written expressions, listening examinations and reading comprehensions from past examination papers and will be provided with model answers, marking schemes, study tips and various learning techniques to help with their preparation for the Leaving Certificate French exam.
Learning Outcomes
- To enhance students fluency and confidence with spoken French.
- To equip students with the notes, model answers and study techniques to allow them to maximse their potential in the Leaving Certificate exam.
- To increase students’ knowledge of vocabulary for reading and listening comprehensions and improve their written expressions (letters, postcards, diary etc)
- To develop students’ understanding of the various grammar concepts required for the Leaving Certificate exam.
- To provide students with exam tips and hints in order to excel in the Leaving Certificate exam.
Entry Requirements
This course is open to all Leaving Cert French students. It is open to both higher and ordinary level candidates.

Other Information
The Leaving Cert French course and exam preparation programmes is delivered by Head of Languages at The LCI, Liam Printer. Liam is a fluent French speaker who has lived in France and is also an experienced secondary school teacher and adult language school teacher. Liam delivers the October Leaving Cert Revision course every year for The Learning Curve Institute.
The Learning Curve Institute offers a unique post course support system whereby students are provided with the contact details of the lecturer and are free to contact him/her with any questions they may have or even documents (Letters, Postcards etc) that they would like the lecturer to help them with.
Materials
Students will each be supplied with a hardback notebook, folder and pen for the duration of the course. Students are required to bring a set of exam past papers and a French-English dictionary to every class. No other books are needed as all materials will be supplied by The Learning Curve Institute.
