The Learning Curve Institute is a FETAC Registered Provider of Education and Training programmes based in the West of Ireland. It specializes in the areas of drug and alcohol awareness, addictions, mental health and counselling and boasts a host of experts in these fields. Christmas is a particularly important time to boost awareness of the dangers of drink and drug driving and through this workshop attendees will be introduced to: This brief workshop will help the learners to gain an understanding of the potential short term and long term consequences of their choice to drink and drive. The workshop will look at alcohol and substance use and help attendees to separate it from their driving.
Programme Duration
This free drug and alcohol awareness workshop for drivers takes place over 3 hours from 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Due to the bad weather and condition of the roads, the workshop scheduled for December 13th in Donegal Town has been cancelled.

Programme Aims
Through discussion and interactive exercises, the aim of the three hour workshop is to enable participants to gain an understanding of the issues of drinking alcohol or taking substances and driving. This information will assist the learners in making informed, positive future choices.
The workshop will outline the impact of new legislation while explaining the process involved in being arrested with a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or substances, and the possible consequences of this happening. A significant proportion of the workshop is focused at understanding the effect alcohol and various drugs have on the body and brain. This information includes up to date knowledge based on scientific evidence which will again assist the learners in making informed, positive future choices.
Programme Content
Attendees will receive a copy of the presentation given on the day. Throughout the workshop learners will have the opportunity to discuss the various topics raised within the sessions. Through discussion the workshop will explore the common myths surrounding alcohol and drugs and their effects on driving. All attendees will be given the Lecturers contact details, and, as part of the service provided by The Learning Curve Institute, encouraged to contact the Learning Curve Institute should issues or questions concerning the workshop content arise in the future.
Learning Outcomes
To build on, and expand existing knowledge relating to the effects of alcohol and drugs, specifically the effects of drinking and driving. To encourage positive future choices through delivering up to date health information and through facilitating group discussion regarding alcohol and drug use and driving. To allow space and time for discussing the wider social impact drink driving has in Ireland.
